Meet Michael S. Phillips, M.D.

Dr. PhillipsDr. Phillips grew up in Bay St Louis, MS, a small town on the Mississippi Gulf Coast about 45 miles east of New Orleans, one of 7 children of a Danish immigrant mother (a "war bride") and a father who was a "classic" small town lawyer and politician. He attended the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, graduating in 1980, having the distinction of being named Class Marshall and also awarded the Rho Chi School of Pharmacy Award, both being the highest honors awarded graduating students of the institute. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree at University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, MS, earning membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Society; an honor reserved for only the top 10% of medical school graduates. After serving his internship at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Virginia, Dr Phillips went on to complete his Ophthalmology residency at Medical University of South Carolina, where, in his final year, he served as Chief Resident. He then moved to Kingsport, Tennessee, where besides his general ophthalmology practice he served in the position of Medical Director at TLC Tri-Cities Laser Center.

In 2001 Dr. Phillips moved to Greenville, SC with his wife, Julie and son, Alex. His interests include scuba diving, his salt water aquarium, landscaping, and cajun cooking.
